회화적 사실주의에 대한 분석적 이해 = Analytical Understanding of Pictorial Realism

In this paper, I examine analytical theories on the topic of pictorial realism, which attempt to find the theoretical foundation for the property of realism, as well as to explain the process for the judgment of realism. Among various theories, I explore two accounts of pictorial realism offered by Lopes and Kulvicki, both of which begin their theories with the assumption that there is a system of pictorial representation. The former presents an inter-systemic pictorial realism that determines the property of realism according to one`s appropriate judgment within a context of use based on the quantity of systemic informativeness of the picture. The latter, to the contrary, constructs an intra-systemic theory that suggests the judgment of realism can be made from one`s perceptual conception on its subject in one`s interpretive system. Finally, I suggest that from the structural problems of these two theories a further question can be raised about the relation between pictorial representation and pictorial realism.
