In this study, mathematical programming was applied to solve for optimal water allocation in the south-western part of Korea, where water supply and demand are unbalanced. The water allocation system was developed to meet water balance in the region through water transfer between the Keum and the Young-San Rivers.
The result of the study shows that water transfer may satisfy various water demands in the region until the year 2011 without building reservoirs.
