      무용교사효능감의 결정요인 탐색 = A Qualitative Exploration into the Determinant of Dance Teachers` Efficacy

      The purpose of this study is to explore the determinant of dance teachers` efficacy in the aspects of educational psychology. Based on the theoretical concepts and the determinant of teacher efficacy, open ended questionnaire and personal interview were conducted to explore the determinant of dance teachers` efficacy through qualitative research method. For the questionnaire and the interview, 21 teachers with teaching experience of approximately 13 years in average were chosen. The analysis of the collected data showed that the determinant of dance teachers` efficacy could be categorized as internal and external factors. Internal factors were categorized as individual teacher`s characteristic and teacher`s ability whereas external factors were categorized as human factor and environmental factor. To be more specific, human factor was divided into three subcategories; learner, fellow teacher and school parent, and environmental factor was divided into two subcategories; teacher`s physical environment to which teacher belongs and task-specific characteristic. In this study, it was revealed that unlike other subject teachers, dance teachers` efficacy is more likely to be affected by task-specific factor comparatively among other environmental factors. It was confirmed that this result was due to the specific characteristic of the subject, in this case, dance. This result also supports the conclusion that the study of teacher efficacy is needed in context-specific aspect. This study will be useful in establishing a basis for the follow-up studies of a research on development of criteria for examining dance teachers` efficacy or development of teacher training program in dance education to provide students with high quality education.
