Self-managing abilities are referred to the abilities to make changes when they are necessary. When students have the skills to change themselves, students can make up good adjustment.
The techniques and strategies needed for the effective self-changes could be classified into five major areas such as (1) the self-planning and goal setting for self-change, (2) self-observing and self-recording of one's own target behaviors, (3) self-controlling the antecedents of the target behaviors, (4) learning to change one's own thoughts, emotions, and overt behaviors, and (5) self-controlling the consequences of the target behaviors. Each of these areas contained several sub-skills.
For the practical use of self-management training program, further works of developing detailed teaching-learning materials would be needed to be performed.
