피드-포워드 : 21세기 미디어, 화이트헤드, 포스트-현상학 = Feed-Forward : 21st-Century Media, Whitehead, Post-Phenomenology

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 마크 핸슨의 2015년 저서 <피드-포워드: 21세기 미디어의 미래>에 대한 서평이다. 이 책의 기저에 깔린 철학적 배경은 화이트헤드에 대한 포스트-현상학적 해석이다. 이 글은 이 책의 주장을 인간과 미디어에 대한 기존 입장 비판, 21세기 미디어의 특징, “피드-포워드” 개념과 그 기제 등을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 나아가 이 글은 이 책의 한계를 넘어설 대안적인 이론적 방향을 알고리즘 객체, 성향과 선제, 인터페이스 등의 차원에서 제시하였다.

This article is to review Feed-Forward: On the Future of Twenty-First-Century Media (2015) by Mark Hansen. The philosophical background of this book can be seen as a post-phenomenological understanding of Whitehead. In this article, Feed-Forward is reviewed in terms of its critique of existing perspectives on the relation between human and world, characteristics of 21st-century media, and his own concept of “feed-forward” and its mechanism. Finally, this article presents alternative theoretical directions in the aspects of algorithmic objects, propensity and preemption, and interface.
