The purpose of this study is to investigate the principles for selecting and organizing topics for an intermediate-level Korean reading textbook on economic and social areas for Thai secondary school Korean learners, and to provide practical application examples for the reading textbook. The study considers factors such as learner cognitive levels, coherence and comprehensiveness between topic items, and expertise and suitability of contents while selecting topics. The study further categorizes and arranges topics based on learner information capacity, cognitive accessibility, and Standard curriculum for Korean language(2017). The content and activities of the textbook were structured by referencing the “Six T's Approach” of the topic-centered model and the intercultural approach. This study also provides examples of chapter compositions based on the Korean reading textbook on economic and social areas.
