      초등 수학 영재 교육에 대한 미국 사회의 이슈와 쟁점: 문헌분석을 중심으로 = Issues and Discussions on Mathematics Gifted Child Education in U.S.: A Review

      In order to broaden our perspectives towards International issues and discussions about research on mathematics gifted child, This study reviewed literatures published in U.S. This literature review may provide opportunities for us to understand the missing points in research on mathematics gifted child in South Korea. I analyzed academic journals, books, web-sites, and articles from newspapers, which focused on mathematics gifted child. Based on the wide ranges of review processes, I found the three major issues regarding research on mathematics gifted child in U.S.; Creativity education in mathematics gifted child education, discrimination on multi-cultured students in mathematics gifted child education, and differences between male and female students in mathematics gifted child education. Comparing to the discussions regarding major issues in mathematics gifted child education in U.S, and South Korean, this study provides new and in-depth perspectives and ideas to both countries. From the analysis of major three issues, I also found changes of research streams in U.S research on mathematics gifted child education. Considering U.S. discussions about creativity in mathematics gifted child education, I assume that they may focus on social benefits from mathematics gifted child education. Moreover, I notice that the efforts to involve students who were marinated from the society in mathematics gifted child education. The undertrading of current issues and discussions on research on mathematics gifted child may provide meaningful implications to South Korea.
