The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of emotional intelligence on the peer relationship of adolescents. Those surveyed are 377 adolescents who are 14 and 15 years old in 3 middle schools in Seoul. The survey`s tools were Peer counselor training program developted by Korea Youth Counseling Institute(1998), emotional intelligence by Moon Yong-Lin(1999), and all of them were composed of self-report test. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics. Pearson`s correlations analysis and mutiple regression analysis by SPSS 12.0 program. The major findings were as follows: First, the actual state of adolescent`s peer relationship and emotional intelligence were normal level. Second, by examining the effect of through adolescents` emotional intelligence on the peer relationship, results showed that in peer relationship of adolescents, the higher emotional intelligence is, the better peer relationship is.
