The Purpose of this essay is to study the historical novels of Kim Dong-In. His first historical novel, "The Young Ones", is written under the influence of the Japanese historical novels. In this novel, historically unknown, non-historical persons play a leading role, and the well-known monumental historical figure, Daewongun, plays a minor role, which is ideal for the composition of the historical novel. "The Spring in the Unhyun Place" treats good materials and "The Great Suyang" shows an interesting historical interpretation. But these novels do not represent social reality with all the color and specific atmosphere of that time, which is the most important to the historical novel.
