자유교육의 맥락에서 본 음악교과의 존재이유 = The raison d`etre of music subject in terms of Liberal education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to reflect the raison d`etre of music subject in terms of liberal education. For this, at first I inquired Aristotle`s liberal education in Greece era and Hirst`s liberal education reinterpreted Aristotle`s in modern, and then I intended to expose how the music is a way of understanding the essence of human beings and the universe in terms of liberal education. Aristotle`s liberal education has a conceptual linkage between `the acquisition of knowledge`, `the development of the mind` and `the reality`. On the other hand Hirst`s liberal education is based on `forms of knowledge` that reflects forms of the life. In spite of being somewhat different between advocates of the liberal education, their pursuit to develop the mind for understanding the essence of human beings and the universe were common. When appreciating the music, we can have an insight of the feeling of human-beings and contemplate idea through the form of music. That is, music makes our mind develop. In this regard, the raison d`etre of music education become more clear. In order to encourage students to reach the ideal state through music like this, we need to lead them with an educational plan.
