통일원리의 '완성'에 관한 연구: 웨슬리의 그리스도인 완성개념과 비교연구를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 신학적 관점에서 '완성'의 개념을 밝히는 것을 목표로 한다. 흔히 '완성'이란 개념은 불가능해 보이는 목표에 도달해야 되는 듯한 높은 기대감으로 인해 간혹 오해를 받으며 개개인을 우울하고 절망하게 만들기도 한다.
제1장에서는 본 연구의 내용을 소개하고 문제 의식을 제안하며 연구의 중요성을 설명한다. 성경에 기록된 "하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 온전하심과 같이 너희도 온전하라."(마 5:48, NIV)는 구절에 연구의 초점을 맞춘다.
제2장은 존 웨슬리의 완성 개념에 대하여 그의 주요 발견과 당시에 기여했던 내용에 관하여 소개한다. 이 장에서는 주로 존 웨슬리의 저서 『기독자의 완전에 대한 해설』과 그의 논문 및 일기, 설교 중 몇 가지 내용을 검토한다. 이와 더불어 그의 제자들의 설교와 그의 업적과 관련된 문헌에 의하여 뒷받침된다. 웨슬리의 ‘마음의 할례’와 ‘성화’의 개념은 완전을 향한 관계에서 설명된다. 또한 예수의 행보와 생애를 통해 나타난 기독교인의 완전 모델을 제시한다.
제3장에서는 참부모이신 문선명 총재 및 한학자 총재의 창조목적을 중심 한 가르침을 살펴본다. 하늘부모님을 닮기 위한 길잡이가 되는 '사대심정권'과 '삼대축복'의 개념을 고찰한다. 또한 하늘부모님의 이성성상을 정의하고 하늘부모님의 모습이 되는 것이 어떤 의미인지 명확히 논하는 것에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 참부모님의 삶과 행위 안에서 완성의 모델이 나타난다.
제4장은 두 개념을 비교하여 양자가 차이점이 있지만 많은 유사점도 보이고 있다는 결론을 내린다. 첫째, 완성의 범위가 다르다. 웨슬리는 개인의 완성에 집중하고 참부모님은 개인의 완성뿐만 아니라 부부의 완성 또는 가족의 완성을 강조한다. 둘째, 두 개념은 사랑이 완성으로 가는 길의 기본 요소라는 것을 발견하였다. 순수하거나 참된 사랑으로 표현하며 하늘부모님으로부터 상속받은 사랑이다. 셋째, 하늘부모님의 창조의 때에 기쁨을 목적으로 가졌기 때문에 완성에 이르는 목표 또한 기쁨에 도달하는 것이다.
제5장은 연구 결과에 대한 요약으로 마무리하고 완성을 더 깊이 이해하기 위해 다양한 관점에서 완성을 바라보는 것의 중요성을 강조한다. 마지막으로 독자들이 완성을 향한 길을 즐기도록 독려한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis aims to shed light on the concept of perfection from a theological perspective. “Perfection” is often misunderstood and causes individuals to fall into depression and despair due to the high expectations of reaching this seemingly impossible goal.
The first chapter introduces the content of the research, proposes the problem, and states the importance of the study. It narrows the research focal point to the Bible passage, “Be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48, NIV).
Chapter 2 focuses on John Wesley, his key discoveries about the concept of perfection, and his contribution in his time. This chapter mainly reviews his thesis, “A Plain Account of Christian Perfection,” and a few of his journals and sermons. Sermons of his followers and literature related to his work also support the chapter, which explains Wesley’s concepts of circumcision of heart and sanctification in relation to perfection. It also presents the model of Christian Perfection manifested by Jesus and his deeds.
Chapter 3 looks into the teaching of True Parents, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, concentrating on the Principle of Creation. It pinpoints the concepts of Four Great Realms of Heart and Three Great Blessings as the guide to resembling Heavenly Parent. It also focuses on defining Heavenly Parent’s characteristics and clarifies what it means to become His image. The model of perfection is depicted in True Parents’ lives and deeds.
Chapter 4 compares the two concepts and concludes that despite differences, there are also many similarities. First, the scope of perfection differs. Wesley focuses on individual perfection, while True Parents emphasize not only the perfection of an individual but also perfection as a couple and a family. Second, both concepts find love to be the fundamental element on the path toward perfection. It is described as pure or true love, a love that comes from Heavenly Parent. Third, since Heavenly Parent created with the purpose of joy, the ultimate goal of reaching perfection is to reach joy.
Chapter 5 concludes by summarizing the research findings and emphasizes the importance of looking at perfection from different perspectives, to understand it more deeply. Finally, it encourages readers to enjoy the path toward perfection.
