      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Relatively, Cleft lip and palate are ranked in the high on the list of congenital deformities. The incidence and etiology have not been clearly known and identified. This study illustrates the importance of environmental and hereditary factors in the etiology of facial cleft. We made a survey of family survey of congenital facial clefts of 50 cases in two years from Jan. 1992 to Dec. 1993.
      The following is the results.
      1. The sexual distribution of the CL, CP, CIP in the Male and Female was 58% : 42%. Males were affected more than Female in the CLP, and Female more than Male in the CL.
      2. The type distribution of the CL was similar in the complete and incomplete one. The complete and incomplete type was equal in the CL, CP, CLP that was 1 : 21, 18 : 3, respectively. The location of the CL frequently affected on the left.
      3. The history of family was 14%.
      4. Cleft incidence by month, birth order and parental age and gap was not significant.
      5. The prenatal history during the first trimester was in U.R.I. medication and under mental stress.
      6. The associated disease and abnormals was crossed ectopic kidney, anal stenosis, liver disease and otitis media etc,.
