      다문화 교육 연구를 위한 탈식민주의 이론의 역할과 가능성

      Korean educational researchers have recently attempted to theorize and practice the idea of multiculturalism, Under this new research trend, authors try to use the discourse of postcolonialsim as new theoretical base to expand and advance region of multicultural discourse in South Korea, In this effort, there is a premise that Eurocentrism has been imbedded in every aspect of our lives since Korean War, and may play negative role in accepting and applying the idea of multiculturalsim which emphsaizes the rights, interets, and respects of all races and ethnicities.
      Within this perspective, authors developed four criteria from postcolonial discourse and literatures as a way of discovering, analyzing, and assessing the implicit presumption and interests of Eurocentrism in our lives. in particualry, cultural texts. The results are as follows: (1) Construction of Subject/Other: (2) Inclusing vs. Exclusion: (3) Silenced voice of subaltern; and (4) Narratives of re-colonization. In Each critira, more specific questions have been produced and identifeid, which will enable educational researchrs to analyze historical, educational, and cultural texts such as school textbooks, mass-media, propaganda, public magagizes. Authors propose that more new criteria should be developed in the future, and also, the possible ideas of roles of postcolonialsim in advancing multicultural education in South Korea will be discussed.
