중·고령자 삶의 만족도 결정 요인 : 공적연금과 사적연금을 중심으로 = Factors Determining the Old's Happiness : Based on Public and Private Pension

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This empirical study analyzes the factors determining the old's happiness, especially based on having the public and private pension plan. People expect that the old having pension plans would have the higher level of life satisfaction than their counterparts. It is litire known, however, whether having pension plans really increase the level of life satisfaction and what types of pension plans between the public pension plan and private pension plan affect more the level of life satisfaction and a empirical approach is required to answer those questions.
In order to investigate what makes the old happy, we utilize the ordered logit model using the Panel Data of Korean Retirement and Income. The results show that having a private pension increases the old's life satisfaction level but having a public pension plan does not affect their life satisfaction. However, having both types of pension plans make the old happier than the old having only a private pension plan.
We also find that the female have the higher level of life satisfaction than the male, the level of life satisfaction increases with higher education level, having a spouse and children make the old happier, and the old with higher household income are happier than the old with lower household income. Especially, the healthier old are about five times happier than the old in poor health status.
