This report comprises results from the first part of the two year research program which aims to develope the selection guidelines of bridge deck pavement materials and the evaluation facility of bridge deck pavement performance. In this year's research, a prototype adhesion tester for waterproofing layer is manufactured and the evaluation guidelines are proposed. This evaluation system is applied to Gyul-Hyun bridge(steel deck) which is located in Seoul Metropolitan Belt Expressway to begin with. And also, static and dynamic loading tests are conducted to measure the responses(deflection, stress, acceleration) of steel deck. Through these measurements of Gyul-Hyun bridge, it is founded that the capability of cracking resulted from unconsidering the inter-behavior of asphalt mixture and deck plate is very high. Additional loading test at Young-Jong bridge which has steel deck bridge are scheduled to investigate bridge deck pavement behaviors next year. On the basis of the loading tests, the evaluation facility of bridge deck pavement system will be developed. And also, the test methods and guidelines for bridge deck pavement materials will be proposed in the second study.
