한국의 현대 ‘실용음악’과 ‘보컬’의 개념상의 문제점 및 고등교육에서 보컬의 학문적 수용 전망 = The Problems of Concepts for Contemporary ‘Silyong Music’ and ‘Vocal’ as well as the Prospect of the Acceptance for Vocal in Higher Education in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to bring up the problems about concepts of contemporary ‘Silyong music’ and ‘vocal’ as well as the acceptance and the device for higher education in Korea. There are many problems and arguments such as the name between Gebrauchsmusik and a Silyong music, the concept between a popular music and a Silyong music which includes contemporary music styles such as jazz, rock, pop, blues, r & b, etc., contents about a popular music, and genres regarding to vocal. Especially we have a argument regarding to the name of musical term between ‘a Korean popular music’ and ‘a Silyong music’ which sometimes is called ‘practical music’, ‘utility music’, or ‘applied music’ by some people. However, a term of these names is not suitable because there is no proper name in English. Thus, the Silyong music of Korea can not be named in English. The definition of the concept ‘vocal’ is a popular piece of music for a singer, but not a singer nor singing for a popular music.
This researcher recommends some acceptances and devices to solve problems described above. It is recommended that a Silyong music contains a Korean popular music, such as trot (kayo), Korea-kayo, ballad, folk, dance music, etc. and western contemporary styles, such as jazz, rock, blues, pop, blues, r & b, etc.; as a result, the concept between the Korean pop and the Silyong music should be defined. Therefore, it is recommended that the concept between the Korean popular music and the Silyong music, which is broader more than the Korean pop, might be different. Also, there are some different opinions about the concept of a vocal among Korean people who are majored in the vocal.
In addition, the theory and the knowledge about the singer and a popular music should be systematized in order to accept the vocal as into a field of study in higher education in Korea.
