컨벤션 주최조직의 국제회의 위험관리 : 컨벤션기획사의 관점을 중심으로 = Convention Organizers and Sponsors' Risk Management for International Conventions - Meeting Planners' Perceptions

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 회의, 컨벤션, 전시회 및 이벤트의 기획과 운영에 있어서 위험관리의 중요성에도 불구하고 관련 연구가 미흡하다는 문제점을 감안하여, 컨벤션 위험관리에 관한 탐색적 접근을 시도하였다. 구체적으로는 첫째, 문헌연구를 통해 국제회의 기획 및 운영을 중심으로 전략적인 컨벤션 위험관리 과정과 방안을 도출하였다. 둘째, 국내 컨벤션기획사 50명을 대상으로 33개 항목의국제회의 위험관리 세부과업에 대한 중요도와 실행도를 조사하여 위험관리 현황을 검토하였다. 셋째, 향후 국제회의의 전략적 위험관리 방안에 대해 논의하고, 대책 및 시사점을 제공하였다. 본 연구 결과를 종합해보면 위험 확인, 위험 분석, 위험 통제, 위험관리 평가 · 피드백으로 구성되는 국제회의 위험관리 과정에서 초기 단계인 위험 확인과 분석단계가 제대로 수행되고 있지 않았다. 특히 위험 평가에 대한 컨벤션기획가의 중요도 인식도 매우 미흡한 것으로 나타나 컨벤션 위험관리가 체계적이며 전략적으로 수행되기 위한 조치가 필요함을 시사하고 있다. 따라서 컨벤션 주최조직은 반응적 차원의 위험관리에서 탈피하여 선제적 관점에서 전략적 접근을 해야 한다. 즉 위험요소 확인과 분석을 통해 위험관리 계획을 수립하고, 위험통제를 전략적으로 이행하며, 위험관리 평가와 피드백을 통해 위험관리 계획과 전략을 지속적으로 갱신하고 수정해야 한다. 더욱이 국내 컨벤션산업의 글로벌화에 따른 외적 환경에 대한 취약성 심화로 위험관리가 더 중요해지고 있으므로 개최지 또는 컨벤션산업 차원의 통합적 위험관리시스템 구축이 필요하다.

There is a lack of interest and research on convention risk management in spite of the growing importance of risk management for the meeting, incentive, convention, exhibition and event industry. This paper aims to address these deficiencies and explore risk management in planning and managing international conventions by considering a strategic approach to risk management Review of prior research and literature suggests tint the strategic convention risk management process should involve four steps: risk identification, risk analysis, risk control, evaluation and feedback Within each stage various management tasks or activities are illustrated. This study also examines the professional convention organizers' perceptions of importance and performance toward the tasks of convention risk management. In planning and managing a convention, the respondents felt tint risk analysis was of less important tasks of risk management. And the lowest performance scores were also attributed to the tasks of risk analysis stage The results indicated tint every organization tint holds or supports conventions should have a risk team in place and understand the importance of risk analysis, an essential part of the convention risk management process. And a strategic approach to convention risk management is needed from proactive risk identification and analysis through risk control and finally evaluation and feedback The paper then proposes a strategic and holistic approach to risk management for the convention industry.
