The freshwater fish fauna was investigated from July 29, 1992 to November 6, 1995 at 66 stations in the upper streams of Yongsan River system.
Total fishes collected from them were 11 families, 31 genera, 41 species and subspecies, 20, 404 individuals including 26 species belonging to Cyprinidae, and among them, 10 species were known as Korean endemic species.
In this investigation, the abundant species were Rhodeus uyekii, Zacco platypus, Microphysogobio yaluensis, Zacco temminckii, and the rare species were Abbottina springeri, Aphyocypris chinensis, Cobitis longicorpus, Pseudobagrus koreanus, Monopterus albus, and Macropodus chinenesis.
