미국에서의 사설기관에 의한 로스쿨평가 = U. S. News & World Report에 의한 평가를 중심으로

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The accreditation and evaluation of law schools in the United States is officially done by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association. This Council does not evaluate the rankings of the accredited law schools. The most representative of the law schools rankings we come across in our daily lives, is conducted by U. S. News& World Report. This article introduces the evaluation methodology and practice of the U. S. News& World Report and the criticism on the methodology. Because sooner or later, our system in Korea is predicted to have an evaluation system by a private institution like that in the United States.
The assessment is mostly done by their peers including professors, judges, and lawyers, and this includes some factors for student selection process, and employment of the graduates of the law schools. However, the problem is that the evaluation is controlled by reputation, and some are criticizing that the student selection process is also worked by LSAT and GPA.
Nevertheless, we should admit that this evaluation is actually practical and useful for some people and thereby as a result of this, some law schools try hard to make changes to their problems they have. It could affect the integrity and diversity of the current curriculum.
