생태적 학교환경 구축 방안 = A Study on the Construction of Ecological School Environments

Ecological-environmental construction considers not only students' physical health but also their mental health. This is very important to Korean students as they spend long hours at school. This survey examines what the problems and limitations of current school buildings and facilities have on students in regards to the concept of ecological construction. It will then look at how we can optimize school facilities and environments as to satisfy new ecologicalconstruction standards.
Current school environments show overall problems with planing, design, construction and maintenance of school buildings. Energy management of classrooms is very inefficient. Both indoor and outdoor environments are very time-worn and lack environmentally-friendly materials. To resolve these problems, the government has applied an environmentally-friendly certification system, even to school construction. A "valuation basis" will control this system.
Under these circumstances, this survey suggests concrete measures for the establishment of ecologically friendly indoor and outdoor environments. This study shows that to improve in indoor environment schools need to have more room temperature, facilities for air and environmental pollution prevention, saving energy, pleasant illumination. Also outdoor environments need to focus on having more antinoise, ecological habitats on rooftops and other outdoor spaces. This will enable the future construction of environmentally-friendly
schools. It will also make students' school lives more pleasant, and promote the health and well being of teachers and students.
