청소년의 통일의식과 학교 통일교육의 진화 = Consciousness on Unification and the Evolution of Unification Education at School

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한반도의 분단 상태를 극복하고 남북한 통일을 성취해야 한다는 민족적 여망에도 불구하고 최근 우리 사회에서 나타나고 있는 통일문제에 대한 관심과 통일의식의 약화를 우려하는 목소리가 높다. 본 연구는 통일 세대인 우리 사회의 청소년들이 지닌 통일의식의 내용과 특징을 살펴보는 가운데 학교 통일교육의 질적 도약을 위한 토대를 재검토하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 통일의식의 함양을 위한 그 동안의 노력과 성과에도 불구하고 학교 통일교육에 대한 학생들의 절대적인 만족도는 여전히 미진한 상태에 있다. 무엇보다도 학교 통일교육의 질적 전환을 위해서는 학교 통일교육 내에 자리하고 있는 대립적 관점들 내지 시각의 차이를 유기적으로 통합할 필요가 있다. 요컨대 통일교육의 내용체계와 학생들의 관심 영역의 융합, 실리적 차원과 당위적 차원의 통일논의의 통합, 북한에 대한 이성적 판단과 북한주민에 대한 감성적 접근의 조화 등이 바로 그것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to review the current state of consciousness on unification among teenagers in our society and suggest a ground for qualitative leap of unification education at school. According to recent survey results, levels of consciousness on unification among our teenage students is declining and indifference towards and ignorance of North Korea is spreading widely. Considering the current situation of unification education at school, one of the most profound ways to develop unification education is to integrate some contradictory perspectives within the context of unification education; contents of formal schooling and students` interest, utilitarian approach and universal approach to Korean unification, rational judgement on North Korea and emotional sympathy for North Korean people.
