정당일체감 형성요인 분석: 정강, 정당지도자 및 정당활동가 = Party Identification in Korea: Policy, Party Leaders, and Party Activists

This article explores whether party identification among Korean voters is developing as a new source of voter mobilization by political parties. In particular, focusing on the Saenuri Party and the Democratic United Party, it examines the role of internal party factors such as party platforms, party leaders and party activists on the development of party identification. In so doing, it first shows that Korean voters do not completely identify themselves with a specific party based on their regional attachment, which implies an independent development of partisanship from the traditional impact of regions on voter mobilization. Second, after analyzing a survey data, I find that the internal party factors to some degree have influence on the development of party identification. Specifically, Korean voters develop their party identification as they come to recognize much clearer difference between parties through the policy and the leadership alternatives. But the impact of the party activists on the development was shown to be negligible.
