    The purposes of this study are to test the reliability and validity of psychometric paradigm and to examine characteristics of nuclear risks, structure of nuclear risk perception and factors influencing nuclear risk perception. The analyses indicate that the validity and reliability of psychometric paradigm are high. The higher order factor analyses reveal that the fit indices of the psychometric paradigm are high. The results suggest a good fit to the data. The overall results of nuclear risks show that the sample rates the nuclear risks as more serious risks than other social risks. In a two-factor dimension-“unknown risk” and “dread risk”, the sample indicates the similarities and differences in the perceptions of nuclear risks. Comparing the nuclear risks in the unknown dimension, the sample regards transportation nuclear materials and radioactive waste disposal as relatively unknown, while nuclear power plant, nuclear weapon, nuclear weapon test, nuclear reactor accident are evaluated as relatively known risks. Based on the results, the potential implications for effective nuclear risk policy are also discussed.
