Recent advancement of information and ubiquitous computing technologies has changed the way of everyday life, and this also has influenced the way of understanding and using urban spaces. In Korea, various public projects have been pursued to apply such technologies into urban spaces, and these attempts are typically referred to as U-City or U-City initiatives. While these are innovative approaches, they usually lack the consideration of integrating technology and urban space and of creating new vision for society at large. This research examines the nature of U-City and its impact on urban space and planning. Then the research suggests policy implications for delivering U-City for a better future urban space.
