This study examined the current dispersion of vegetation throughout Hongdo by conducting field survey from October, 2012 to April, 2013. Research and analysis were performed about the current distribution plants and  soil factors at Hongdo in Kyeongnam, which is breeding grounds for a black tailed gull. As a result, the flora of the study area was investigated as a total of 19 taxa including 15 families, 16 species, and 3 varieties. Vegetation distribution  has showed that Carex boottiana community is, in the gross, dominant, Opuntia ficus-indica community is partly  distributed on the southeastern slop, and Echinochloa crusgalli community is narrowly distributed around bare ground of the  top. Because Opuntia ficus-indica community is not congruent with breeding grounds for a black tailed gull, the plan for preserving and managing breeding grounds is required. To do this, maintenance should be presented through  overall field survey. In terms of soil factors, as the altitude is higher, pH and electrical conductivity are lower and organic matter content is higher. In Chilbaldo, as the altitude is higher, water content, organic matter content, salt concentration,  and total nitrogen are lower. In Soguguldo, as the altitude is higher, water content is lower. Soil factors vary depending  on the size of an island, altitude, topographic features, location, and characteristics of vegetation distribution. Soil factors  at Carex boottiana community as a dominant community have showed higher water content, organic matter content,  and electrical conductivity, and lower pH. Soil factors at Opuntia ficus-indica community have indicated lower soil water content, electrical conductivity, and total nitrogen. Soil texture consists of medium sand and fine sand, and so is  thought to have a direct effect on soil water content.
