Reunification is one of the most important issues in Korean Peninsula these days. The gap in languages in particular, between the South and North Korean languages, however, is now increasing. The scholars majoring in Korean are worried about this reality.
In this paper to close the language gap in between South and North Korea, the authors study 'Munhwa-O', the standard North korean language, first, Then they study the pronunciation of North Korean (the general rules, vowels, word initial 'ㄴ' and 'ㄹ', word final consonant clusters 'ㄹㄱ' and 'ㄹㅂ', liaison, assimilation 'ㄴ' insertion, and vocative postposition) by means of contrastive analysis between South and North Korean.
Finally, the authors research into the vocabulary (pure Korean, homonyms, Sino-Korean, loanwords, and nation names and capital names) using the same method of contrastive analysis between South and North Korean. The authors wish this paper would help to close the gap between the South and North Korean languages.
