한국의 광역지자체별 연구개발(R&D) 활동이 지역의 경제 발전에 미치는 영향 = The Impact of R&D Activities on Economic Development in South Korea's Metropolitan Regions

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 2017년부터 2021년까지의 R-COSTII 데이터와 통계청 데이터를 활용하여, 한국 광역지자체별 특허·논문 수, 투자, 협력 비중, 정부지원 활용 비율이 지역 경제 성장과 부가가치 창출에 미치는 영향을 패널 분석으로 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 지역 내 총생산(GRDP)에는 연구개발투자액이 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 공동연구 투자 비중은 부정적 영향을 주었다. 부가가치에 있어서는 연구개발투자액, 과학기술 논문 수, 공동연구 투자 비중이 부정적 효과를 보였으나, 특허등록 수와 해외 협력 비중은 긍정적 효과를 나타냈다. 본 연구 결과는 R&D 활동의 경제적 영향이 복합적임을 보여주며, 지역 경제 성장을 위한 정책은 각 지역의 고유한 특성과 목표에 맞춰 설계되어야 함을 시사한다. 특히, 논문 및 특허 성과가 경제적 파급효과와 부가가치 창출로 이어질 수 있도록 기술 사업화와 특허, 국제 협력 중심의 혁신 정책이 필요하다.

This study analyzes the impact of patent and paper counts, investment, collaboration ratios, and government support utilization on economic growth and value-added creation across metropolitan regions in South Korea from 2017 to 2021, using R-COSTII and Statistics Korea data. The results indicate that R&D investment positively affected Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), while joint research investment ratio had a negative impact. For value-added, R&D investment, scientific paper counts, and joint research investment ratio showed negative effects, whereas patent registration counts and international collaboration ratios had positive effects. These findings suggest that the economic impact of R&D activities is complex, highlighting the need for tailored policies that consider the unique characteristics and objectives of each region. In particular, innovation policies should focus on technology commercialization, patents, and international collaboration to maximize the economic spillover and value-added creation of research outcomes.
