자료처리과정에 따른 중학생의 통계적 사고 수준에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Statistical Thinking Levels of Middle School Students based on the Data-Handling Process

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 지필 검사와 면담을 통한 조사 연구를 실시하여 중학교 학생들의 통계적 사고 특성을 「얻으려는 자료에 대해 미리 기술하기」,「얻은 자료를 정돈하고 압축하기」,「자료의 특성을 요약해 표현하기」,「자료를 분석․해석하기」의 4가지 측면에서 분석하였다.
연구 결과, 학생들은 통계적 자료에 대해 시각적인 요소에 의존하려는 경향이 뚜렷했으며, 중심경향성에 대해 충분히 이해를 하지 못함으로 자료의 해석에 어려움을 가졌다. 또 학습하지 않았음에도 불구하고 범위와 같은 자료의 분포를 나타내는 개념에 대하여도 자연스럽게 비형식적 개념이 형성되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 원 자료를 스스로 자료의 사용목적과 문맥에 적합하게 분류, 정리하는 데 큰 어려움을 가지고 있었으며 여러 개의 그래프를 동시에 고려하여 자료의 문맥과 상황을 바탕으로 해석하거나 추론하는 데는 큰 어려움을 나타내었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate statistical thinking levels of Korean 9th graders. We developed items and test problems to analyze 4 process including 'describing data', 'organizing and reducing data', 'representing data', and 'analyzing and interpreting data'. This study shows that students have difficulties in organizing and reducing the data to graphs.
They cannot understand or make inferences from given data according to context and situation in the graphs. Students almost always focused on particular data and tried to make inferences from that data.
