      The purpose of this study was to exam the validity of oxygen uptake efficiency slope(OUES) in healthy adults. One hundred and thirteen adults (28.3±8.9 yrs) participated in this study. The subjects were conducted maximal stress tests and their maximal oxygen uptake(VO₂max), VE/VO₂ slope, VE/VCO₂ slope, heart rate peak(HRpeak), exercise time(EXtime), BMI were measured and estimated. Pearson's correlations were utilized to exam the relation between OUES and measured variables. Also multiple regression analysis was used to analyse the independent predicted variables for OUES. As results, VO₂max, VE/VCO₂ slope, HRpeak, EXtime were significantly correlated with OUES. In addition, VO₂max, VE/VO₂ slope, Extime, BMI were found to be predictable variables for OUES. These results indicate that OUES is able to use as an objective measurement factor for cardiorespiratory function regardless of one's motivation and fitness ability to terminate maximal stress test However, further studies with various physiological conditions in different population should be needed to confirm the usefulness of OUES.
