This article examines the education-related articles of the 1920‘s from in the Japanese Government-General of Korea’s publication Chosunmoon Chosun. The Japanese Government-General of Korea’s publication Chosun were published in Japanese and Korean. However, these were not simple translations, and contents were different. The Korean version was the official means of communicating what the Japanese Government-General of Korea wanted to promote to Korean people.
The Japanese Government-General of Korea changed from 'military rule' to 'cultural rule' after the 3.1 movement in 1919. Because of this, the international community criticize the Japanese colonial rule. So, the Japanese imperialism wanted to promote the development of Korea due to their domination. Furthermore, education was especially important among the colonial rule of Joseon.
In this article, I attempted to analyze the constitution and content of my writing by the author who wrote articles related to education of Joseon. Through this, it can be seen that education articles are composed of various topics such as education on the system, rural education, women education, youth education, and social education. Among them, social education were the most important contents.
The purpose and character of social education are as follows. Japanese imperialism decided that greater progress was needed after World War I. For this, society must stabilize, and the people have to become the "Loyal imperial subject" the state wants. So all the people in society have become subjects of education.
Social education was an alternative becouse of the majority of the people were unable to go to school In colonial Joseon. The principal agent of social education was the governmental institution. The Japanese Government-General of Korea recognized the people as subjects of enlightenment. And They rightly argued that people should devote themselves to the development of the nation.
