The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relation of nutrients intake and blood pictures between nonvegetarian female college students. and lacto-ovo- vetetarian female college students.
Food samples were weighed and collected for 3 days. Blood sampling was extracted from subjects, and then the quantitative analyses of food iron content, Hb., Ht., M.C.H.C., S.I., T.I.B.C., T.S. were done with the blood sampling. Food nutrients analysis procedure was made by computer using food compsition table(2th).
    The results was as following:
    1. Mean values of weight and Height were respectively 53.58±1.68㎏, 157.05±1.43㎝ in nonvegetarians and 51.23±1.45㎏, 156.65±1.24㎝ in lacto-ovo- vegetarians.
    2. The average intakes of protein, fat, earbohydrate, fiber, Ca, P, Fe and Vit. C were above the RDA in the two groups, but those of calories was below the RDA in nonvegetarians, especially, fiber and iron intakes were significant in the two groups(P<0.01, P<0.05). The percentage of iron absorption was 7.4% in nonvegetarians and 5.00% in lacto-ovo-vegetarians.
    3. The mean values of Hb., Ht. and M.C.H.C. were respectively 12.76±0.26g/100ml, 37.53±0.67%, 33.99±0.11% in nonvegetarians and 13.13±0.10g/100ml, 39.73±0.41%, 33.07±0.20% in lacto-ovo-vegetarians. The mean values of S.I., T.I.B.C. and T.S. were respectively 128.51±8.93㎍/100ml, 445.32±24.71㎍/100㎖, 29.89±2.39% in nonvegetarians and 119.87±11.17㎍/100ml, 435.70±18.53㎍/100ml, 27.61±2.13% in lacto-ovo-vegetarians. Nonvegetarians were lower than lacto-ovo-vegetarians in the mean values of Hb., Ht.. However nonvegetarians were higher than lacto-ovo-vegetarians in the mean values of M.C.H.C., S.I., T.I.B.C. and T.S.. Expecially Ht. and M.C.M.C. were significant in the two groups(P<0.01, P<0.05).
    4. The correlation between iron intake and Hb., Ht., T.I.B.C. was significant, respectively(P<0.05 r=0.420, P<0.025 ·r=0.459, P<0.025 ·r=0.423). Also fiber intake and M.C.H.C. were correlated significantly (P<0.01, r=0.504). Correlation between Ca and Hb. was significant(P<0.05, r=0.375).
