Relations between North and South Korea has been shifting from the Cold War to an era of reconciliation, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence, which directly or indirectly will influence the unification education. In fact, reconciliation, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence in North and South Korea brought about a transformation of unification education. We named it cooperation and peace-oriented unification education.
But with all the strength, cooperation and peace-oriented unification education have weakness. Especially, the education missed the military security. Also the education has begun to show an inclination toward a mutual-assistance of nation. As a result, our unification education at schools have confronted conflict and confusion in the unification problem.
From this view point, this paper is intended as an investigation of method to improve cooperation and peace-oriented unification education at school. The Basic orientation is the objective understanding the North Korea, realistic understanding the unification environment, balancing the security with the unification.
In order to enact this orientation, this paper propose an alternative plan. The plan contains the inflammation of unification consciousness, the improvement of guide line for unification education at schools, the betterment of the study and training of unification education for teacher.
