신제품개발과정과 신제품성과의 관계 : 산업특성, 기업규모의 조절효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지속적인 신제품의 개발은 경쟁환경에서 기업이 살아가기 위한 필수적인 요소이며, 신제품의 성공은 신제품개발과정을 얼마나 효율적으로 수행하느냐에 많은 영향을 받는다. 신제품개발과 관련된 많은 선행연구들은 어떠한 활동이 신제품성과에 영향을 미치는지에 대해 주로 다루고 있으나, 대부분 기업이 처하고 있는 산업특성이나 기업규모를 고려하지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 신제품개발과정과 신제품성과의 관계와 이들의 관계에 산업특성과 기업규모가 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 다루고 있다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비첨단산업에서는 모든 신제품개발과정을 제대로 수행하는 것이 신제품성과에 중요한 것으로 나타났지만 첨단산업에서는 그렇지 않았다. 둘째, 중소기업에게는 사전개발활동이 중요한 반면에 대기업에게는 제조관련활동이 중요한 것으로 나타났다.

A continuous development of new products is the lifeblood for firms that hope to remain competitive in competitive circumstances. Ongoing success in such circumstances is dependent on performing new product development processes. Most previous studies of new product development process have examined which activity has influence to new product performance. But these studies focus exclusively on firms in a specific industry and did not consider firm's size. So this study examined the relationships between new product development and new product performance and the moderating role of industry characteristics and firm's size. The major findings of this study are summarized as follows; First, performing every new product development activities is important to new product success in non-high tech industry, but it is not appear to be of any significance in the high tech industry. Second, performing pre-development activities is important to small to medium sized firm, and performing manufacturing activities is important to large sized firm.
