외국어로서의 한국어 교사 발화의 음성적 특징에 대한 연구: 음운구를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 외국어로서의 한국어 교육 현장에서 학생들의 발화에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요소로 알려진 ‘한국어 교사들의 발화’에 대한 문제점을 짚어 보고, 한국어 남성 교원의 여성스러운 발화에서 몇 가지의 운율적 단서들(음의 길이, 음높이 변화, 강세)을 복제하여 일반 남성의 발화에 씌워 봄으로써 한국인 청자들의 여성성에 대한 지각 단서의 변화를 확인해 보고자 한다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 한국어 교사들이 자신의 음성 사용 기제에 대해 이해하고, 교육적인 측면에서 효과적으로 음성적 특징들을 활용할 수 있는 방안을 마련하는 데 세부적인 연구 목적이 있었다. 추가 연구로서 연구자가 외국어로서의 한국어 교육 현장에서 경험적으로 발견한 교사 발화와 관련된 몇 가지 문제에 대해 말토막이라고도 불리는 음운구(phonological phrase)의 마지막 두 음절의 음높이를 조작하여 교사가 효과적으로 수업 내용을 전달하는 데 필요한 음성적 특징에는 무엇이 있는지 살펴볼 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to investigate listeners' perception on femininity produced by male Korean language teachers, which have an impact on students' utterances in L2 classroom settings. Evaluation of a paralinguistic cue(femininity) in question, in the speech utterances of Korean male teachers will be analyzed based on the manipulation of acoustic cues such as Duration, Intensity, and F0 contours. This sound manipulation let teachers themselves perceive the characteristics of their own voices. In addition, the effective way of delivering messages will be presented by manipulating pitches of the final syllable of phonological phrases produced Korean teachers. These findings of this study have implications for academic studies to shed a positive light on teacher education and provide opportunities for teachers to recognize their own speech patterns.
