    This study was conducted for identification of causative gene(s) in the well-known intramuscular fat QTL region on pig chromosome 6. Korean native BAC library was initially screened with 19 microsatellites, located in this region. Later on, 82 type I primer pairs from human chromosomes 1 and 18, the homologous region of pig chromosome 6, were added for the contig biolding. The total number of screened BAC clones were 1024 and end-sequences of the BAC clones were also investigated. The homologous region of the obtained contigs were from 64 Mb (SW1881) to 84 Mb(SW917) in HSA1 and from 5.5 Mb (SW1059) to 38 Mb (S0003) in HSA18. Even though, obtained BAC contig was 10 Mb based on the comparison with human draft sequence, perfect BAC contig in this region was not made in this study. However, the contig built in this study will be used as a valuable materials for finding the causative mutation of the gene affecting IMF QTL on pig chromosome 6.
