지역신문의 지역성 구현 방식에 관한 질적 연구 = A Qualitative Study on the Way of Locality Implementations of Local Newspaper

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explores the way of their own locality implementations through the case of the `Columbia Daily Tribune` in U. S. that maintain a good reputation and close relationship in the community. Under the perspectives of social locality and hyper- locality, using participant observation and in-depth interviews, this study shows that workers in local newspaper has been trying to struggles of survival with the practices of a new locality to keep pace with the changes in community characteristics and digital environments. As a result, they are providing a base of `local talk` through news coverage, articles that could impact on many people of community, an editorials which written by publisher and encouragements of participation of an ordinary citizen. And they are trying to practice to localize beyond the geo-spatial localization and hyper-locality which means meticulously detailed. Also various news platforms and multimedia-type contents formed by professional journalists and amateur citizen was part of the implementing this new locality. The results of this research suggest that local newspapers in Korea should be creation of local news what readers really wants with consideration of the characteristics of the ever-changing community breaking from routine and conventional reporting.
