Middle aged women are in the stage where they can harvest the fruits of their efforts and look back their lives. The quality of the middle aged women's lives include many different meanings. Although the quality of their lives can enhance through various activities, they want to feel the meaning of their lives, the value of their existence, self-respect and happiness through work.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the quality of life in the characteristics of middle aged women's employment. In other words, it was to provide the agreement on the establishment of the policy and the interventions to enhance the quality of life of the middle aged women by verifying the influences of the characteristics of employment such as what differences there are in the quality of life according to the employment, and what differences there are in the quality of life according to the employment motives on the sub factors such as physical, economic, psychological and social satisfaction.
First, when looking into the difference in quality of life according to the general items of responders, those who are older showed significant difference in the quality of life in all the aspects such as physical, economic, psychological and social aspects. Income level influenced the quality of life in the economic and social aspects of life. On the other hand, marital status and educational level made negative influences on the social aspects of life.
Second, although whether to be employed did not make any influences on the quality of life, we investigated if there was difference in the level of quality of life according to the motive of employment. From the analysis, we could know that the non-economic motive made positive influence on the physical, economic and psychological satisfaction.
Third, factors influencing the quality of life of the middle aged women were monthly income of the middle aged women, job type, employment type and working hours. In the regression analysis to identify the influences of employment characteristics of the middle aged women, monthly income variable made positive (+) influence on the physical satisfaction in the physical aspects. On the other hand the type of employment made negative influence so that casually employed women showed higher physical satisfaction than the regularly employed women. In the economic aspect, monthly income and job type made positive influence on the economic satisfaction. From the job types, public servants and other minor jobs showed more economic satisfaction. On the other hand, working hours made negative influence. Therefore part time workers showed higher economic satisfaction than full time working women. In the quality of life from the psychological aspect, only the average monthly income of the woman made positive influence. In the quality of life from the social aspect other minor jobs made positive influence (+). Workers who have minor jobs showed higher social satisfaction than laborers and production workers. Regarding the variable of working hours, full time working women showed social satisfaction than part time working women.
When summarizing the above results, the factors that influence the quality of life of the married middle aged women
Among the characters of employment influencing the quality of life of the married middle aged women, employment motive and monthly income made the biggest influence on the quality of life in the physical, psychological and economic aspect. From this point, we get to conclusion that we need to develop an incentive program and educate them to give motive to work and government should make active efforts and intervention so that a working woman can live a healthy life. At the same time, government and enterprises should make active efforts and interventions to increase the monthly income. In working hours and employment type, we need institutional intervention to provide flexible and versatile working environments for middle aged women who have time restrictions. Furthermore, it is hoped that this study could be utilized as a basic material to activate the employment of the middle aged women. Lastly, it is hoped that it will be a practical material to enhance the quality of life of the middle aged women.
