공휴일제도 개선의 항공운송산업에 대한 경제파급효과 분석 = Study on the Economic Impact on Air Transport Industry Pursuant to Improvement of Public Holiday`s Policy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This current study analyzes the economic impact on the air transport industry and other related industries pursuant to reasonable improvement of the Public Holiday Policy in Korea including expanded alternative holidays, day designated holidays, sandwich holidays, etc. This current study concludes that relieving the annual deviation in numbers of holidays, and establishing longer weekends by improving public holiday`s policy shall lead to increased domestic and overseas tourism expenditure, increased revenue in airlines and other related businesses, and other positive economic impacts. This current study surveyed the general public to establish the estimated tourism demand and change in expenditure according to various types of public holiday`s policy, and derived the economic impact through interindustry analysis. According to the different features of each type of public holiday`s policy, in thirty years: the annual number of holidays is estimated to increase 0.5 days to 3.0 days; the economic impact to the aviation industry and other related industries pursuant to the newly established holidays is estimated to be 1,162.7 billion KRW to 6,976.2 billion KRW (approx. 1.02 billion USD - 6.13 billion USD); and 14,704 to 88,226 new jobs are expected to be created.
