중·일 영토갈등과 일본 정치엘리트의 구성적 변화 = Sino-Japanese Territorial Conflict and Transformation of Political Elites in Japan

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

China and Japan have avoided territorial disputes since normalizing diplomatic relations. However, recent territorial disputes have led to the worst in Sino-Japanese relations. The Sino-Japanese territorial conflict can be attributed to changes in the situation in Northeast Asia and changes in the Japanese political elite.
Japan’s policy toward China has been determined by the dynamics of political elites who have different political views on China. Therefore, the change in the political elite in the ruling party can be seen as a change in policy toward China. In this sense, intensifying territorial disputes between China and Japan have been closely linked to changes in the Japanese political elite since 2000. The change in the political elite is not limited to regime change. It means that the number of political elites who share political positions regardless of the ruling and opposition parties is increasing.
In conclusion, the territorial problem in China and Japan is deepening as conservative political elites take the initiative. In particular, self-centered conservatism extends the territorial issue of China and Japan to security issues, adding to security instability in East Asia.
