알모도바르 영화와 새로운 스페인 사회의 반영 = The Reflection of New Spanish Society in Almodóvar’s Film

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is to survey the various social factors and characters reflected in the filmography of the spanish director Pedro Almodóvar. Here we try to analyze most of his films from the first <Pepi, Luci, Bom and Other Girls on the Heap>(1980) to the last <Broken Embraces>(2009). As his films bear the results of social histories of their times, to read them from the social point of view can contribute to approach to the mainstreams and changes about the contemporary spanish society, especially in the period of democracy after the end of Franco’s dictatorship. His cinemas have emcompassed the called “Movida”, one cultural revolution or youth Spain’s subculture that corresponds to the Post-Franco. The first two films,<Pepi, Luci, Bom> and <Labyrinth of Passions>(1982) were the cinematic text and, at the same time one of the documentary indications about Movida. Almodóvar also reflects the obsession on television and advertising in the Spain’s new society in the most of his film and in <Kika>(1993)makes a subject of criticism the interference of masses in the private life or the gaze of the public. The discrepancy of Catholic religion’s social role between under Franco and in the new society is related to sexuality changes like transvestism, gay, sexual transformation in <Matador>(1986),<Law of Desire>(1987) and <Bad Education>(2004), or to the psychoanalystic situation of some characters. In <Live Flesh>, by the comparison between the deserted and feared streets of Madrid in 1970 and the resplendent and transformed Madrid in 1995 we can experience the coming of new era or new millennium excluding the ‘black legend’ of spanish past history and also the coming of new family of Spain.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

스페인 감독 알모도바르의 필모그래피에 반영된 스페인의 사회적 변화를 분석한 글이다. 장편 데뷔작 <페피, 루시, 봄 그리고 시시한 계집애들>에서부터최근의 <브로큰 임브레이시스>를 포함한 대부분의 영화 텍스트를 분석대상으로 했다. 알모도바르 영화는 개봉 시기의 사회적 단면을 재현하는 현재성을 내포하고 있음으로 해서, 그의 영화를 분석하는 것은 다양한 사회적 요소들, 즉문화, 대중매체, 성, 가족, 종교 등에 있어, 그 양상과 흐름을 파악할 수 있는 근거가 된다. 1. 포스트프랑코 시대의 모비다와 역사 청산에 대한 문화적 반응, 2.
대중매체와 연관된 TV의 중독성, 대중의 관음증, 매체의 사적 공간의 침투 등을 고찰했고, 3. 가톨릭의 파시즘적 폭력성과 그것의 결과물로서의 성적 변화와새로운 가족의 출현을 논의했다. 실재 드러나는 현상을 재현한 부분과 영화의메시지로서 제시된 부분이 공존하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 특히 새로운 가족이라는 주제는 스페인 사회의 현실적 수용의 범위를 벗어나 감독이 자신의 성적 메시지를 반영한 것으로, 그 현실가능성을 넘어 가족 제도에 대한 스페인 사회의획기적인 의식 변화를 부분적으로 반영하고 있는 것이다.
