Governance is a widely supported and accepted concept in the political and administrative system of the world. It refers to a managerial mechanism and also a philosophy in those arenas. This article goes over the concept theoretically in a holistic perspective in order to explore its fundamental principles.
This article pinpoints the deterministic nature of the concept. Since the concept was born and developed by other western and developed countries, it may be inevitable that the concept has been well geared to those countries. This article argues that any countries and governments should be able to discern their own not only peculiarities of political and administrative system, but also those of civil society and its capacity to deal with public affairs as a partner of governments.
Many influential studies on governance are discussed and analyzed so as to highlight its relativity. The authors explain main activities, coordinators between various stakeholders, and the role of stakeholders in governance system and emphasize the relative nature of the interface between stakeholders of governance system.
This article tries to contribute to more stable adaptation of the theory of governance in Korea
