수필을 활용한 외국인근로자 대상 한국어 교수·학습 방안 연구 = A study on Korean Language Teaching and Learning Methods for Foreign Workers using Essays

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study sought the content and methods of Korean language education using essays for foreign workers, and examined responses by applying a class model. This study started with the idea that Korean language and Korean culture education for better communication skills alone would not solve the problems, given the prevention of possible problems with the growing number of foreign workers in Korea and their positive impact on the domestic labor market, and accordingly it suggested the teaching content and methods.
Therefore, this study aimed to find an integrated education method for Korean language, literature, and culture using essays. Foreign workers need to learn Korean language and Korean culture effectively in Korean language education. In particular, Korean education should pay attention to the smooth communication effect for foreign workers to adapt to Korean society. In this regard, essays are a very proper tool for this education. Essays, a literary genre that depicts personal daily experiences, are expressed in everyday language so they are practical language materials for understanding Korean emotions and culture and at the same time they are highly valuable as a cultural education material because it contains abundant information on society and culture the writers experience.
This study revised and presented the educational procedures and content of a dialogue-centered teaching method, a literary education method of Korean language education, in order to find specific teaching and learning methods for the integrated education of language, literature, and culture using essays. In addition, essays suitable for intermediate foreign workers were selected, in consideration of the learner's learning environment and level. As a result, they have been concretized as a lesson plan using 「Mistake Experience」 written about experiences in daily life and work life that foreign workers can easily understand.
This study has educational value in that it presents a specific teaching method using essays and applies a teaching model although there are few studies on Korean language teaching and learning methods using literature for foreign workers.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 외국인근로자 대상 수필 작품을 제재로 활용한 한국어 교육의 내용과 방법을 모색하고, 수업 모형을 적용하여 반응을 살펴보았다. 국내 외국인근로자의 증가에 따라 발생할 수 있는 문제의 방지와 이들이 국내 노동력 시장에 미치는 긍정적 영향을 생각한다면 의사소통 능력향상을 위한 한국어와 한국문화 교육만으로는 해결될 수 없다는 것에서 시작되었고, 그에 따른 교수 내용과 방법을 제시하였다.
이에 본 연구는 수필을 활용한 한국어 언어·문학·문화의 통합 교육 방법을 모색하고자 하였다. 외국인근로자는 한국어 교육에서 한국어와 한국문화를 효과적으로 학습해야 할 필요가 있으며, 이때 한국어 교육은 외국인근로자에게 한국 사회 적응을 위한 원활한 소통 작용에 주목해야 한다. 수필은 이러한 교육에 매우 적절한 제재라 할 수 있는데, 수필은 개인적인 일상의 경험을 묘사하는 문학 장르로 일상의 언어로 표현되어 한국인의 정서와 문화 이해를 위한 실제적 언어자료임과 동시에, 작가가 경험한 사회와 문화에 대한 정보가 풍부하여 담겨있어 문화 교육 자료로서도 가치가 높다.
수필을 활용한 언어·문학·문화의 통합 교육을 위한 구체적인 교수·학습 방법을 모색하기 위해서 국어과 문학교육 방법인 대화 중심 교수법의 교육 절차와 내용을 수정하여 제시하였다. 또한, 학습자의 학습 환경과 수준을 고려하여 중급 수준 외국인근로자에게 적합한 수필 작품을 선정하였다. 외국인근로자가 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 일상생활과 직장 생활에서의 경험을 쓴 「실수한 경험」을 활용한 수업안으로 구체화하였다.
본 연구는 외국인근로자 대상 문학을 활용한 한국어 교수 방안 연구가 많지 않은 가운데 수필을 활용한 구체적 교수 방안을 제시하고, 수업 모형을 적용했다는 것에 교육적 가치를 지닌다고 할 수 있다.
