Hwangtak Kim The purpose of the study is to improve the Ministry of Tourism System in Korea and to establish the appropriate system. This study employed various process such as surveying the existing literature, questionnaire, the statistical data, and the interviews to come up with the result. This study mainly concentrates to identify whether the present Korean tourism administration can efficiently cope with the changing tourist conditions as well as focus how the development must be pursued. This study also provides a comparative analysis by comparing previous and present-day the Ministry of Culture and Sports and national tourism organization.
The study points out major problems such as redundancy in the tourism administrations and its functional differences, inability to adapt to the ever changing environment, shortage of expertise, policy evaluation and feedback. Two proposals will therefore serve as the possible solutions to the formation of the possible development of administrative system for promoting Korea's tourism. They are as follows; First, to establish the Ministry of Tourism. The first proposal will be the most desirable to promote efficient tourism administration. Second, to transform the current Ministry of Culture and Sports into the Ministry of Culture and Tourism by posting an assistant minister and three tourism bureaus. Consequently, the current tourism administration system should be revised in accordance with the first proposal because it's practical and desirable.
