실유 대 실존 : 토마스의 실유의 형이상학과 하이데거의 실존론적 존재론

국문 초록 (Abstract)

저명한 토마스주의자 질송은 키에르케고어의 실존주의를 비판하면서 실존을 본질이 없는 본질이라고 일갈한다. 하이데거를 실존주의자로 볼 수는 없지만, 그의 실존론적 존재론도 질송의 이러한 비판을 피해갈 수는 없을 것이다. 그러나 문제는 인간 현존재의 실존이 본질이 없을 때에나 가능하다는 것이다. 실존에 본질의 형이상학적 원리를 들이밀면, 자유, 가능성, 개별성, 순간적 결단, 책임, 본래성이나 비본래성 등과 같은 실존의 권리들이 모두 파괴되기 때문이다. 그래서 실존주의자들은 본질을 실존에서 제거한다. 하이데거의 실존론적 존재론도 마찬가지이다. 하이데거는 존재물음을 존재 자체의 유한한 시간 성격에서 해명하고자 하는 기초존재론적 의도와 목적에서 현존재의 실존을 분석하지만, 키에르케고어처럼 현존재의 실존에서 본질을 제거한다.토마스의 생각과는 달리 현존재에게는 실존과 본질이 실재적으로 구별되어있지 않다. 오히려 실존은 본질을 버리면서 그것을 대신한다. 이러한 이유에서현존재에게는 그의 존재사실이 곧 존재방식인 동시에 그의 존재방식이 곧 존재사실이다. 현존재의 존재사실은 신과 같은 어떠한 존재자적 원인이나 근거로 환원될 수 없는, 불안의 근본 기분에서 개시되는 실존의 탈근거적인 현사실을 말한다. 현존재의 존재방식은 어떠한 본질의 명령도 거부하는 실존의 자유로운'어떻게'로서 그때마다 고유한 존재가능성을 수행한다는 의미에서 그의 존재수행을 가리킨다. 뿐더러 세계가 그때마다 존재이해의 빛에서 열린 공간으로서 생기하는 한, 현존재는 세계적인 실존가능성들에서 풍요롭게 실존한다. 또한 현존재가 본질이 없는 개별자로 실존하는 만큼, 현존재는 그때마다 자기장악의 방식에서 본래적으로 실존하거나 자기상실의 방식에서 비본래적으로 실존한다. 이러한 실존의 권리들이 모두 실존에서 본질이 소거될 때 실존에 주어진다면, 본질 없는 본질이라는 점에서 실존을 겨냥하고 있는 질송의 비판은 비판이기 이전에, 거꾸로 실존을 사태 자체에 맞게끔 드러내주는 실존의 진리라고 보아야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

E. Gilson, criticizing Kierkegaard's existentialism, determines human existence as the essence without an essence, Heidegger's existential ontology cannot escape Gilson's critique. But what will not be forgotten is that human existence is always possible without an essence. For, if it is united with an essence, all the rights of existence such as a freedom, a possibility, an individuality, a momentary decision, the authenticity or the inauthenticity will be destroyed. Therefore, existentialists remove the essence from human existence. Heidegger also removes it from human existence, although he analyzes the existence of There-being in the fundamentally ontological intention of elucidating the question of Being in the horizon of time itself. There-being has not the essence distinct from human existence. The existence of There-being replaces it, absorbing it into his existence itself. The fact of being is not really distinct from the mode of being, at least in the case of There-being's existence. The fact of being of There-being means the groundless facticity of his existence, which cannot be reduced to an ontic cause or ground like God. It can be disclosed in the mood of anxiety. The mode of being of There-being means the achievement of existence in that his existence can be achieved as a free 'how to exist', rejecting all the kinds of directions or orders of human essence. As long as the world comes-to-pass as an open space in the light of an authentic comprehension of Being. There-being exists in an abundance of worldly possibilities of existence. There-being exists authentically or inauthentically, because he exists as an individuality without human essence. Seen in the points described above, Gilson's critique against human existence represents the truth of it rather than the critique.
