The double section tube members have two type of buckling mode shapes.
The overall buckling modes can be used as load supporting elements and the local buckling mode can be often
used as energy absorbing members. In this study, the crushing load and energy absorption of thin-walled double
tube and pipe type model subjected to axial compression is investigated. Throughout the study, the energy
absorption and crushing load for buckling are large in a case of PP group(double).
Energy absorption is larger a pipe sectional member than a regular square tube member in the same sectional area.
