The purpose of this study was to investigate understanding of infants' developmental level that parents who currently raise 13∼36 months infants hold and to analyze the differences that happen according to their age, the number of children, education level, job status, and education experience for children care. In addition, it is to examine the difference between the fathers' and the mothers' accuracy on the knowledge of infant's developmental level.
The results of this study were summarized as follows:
First, fathers had low accuracy on the knowledge of infant's developmental level in general. No distinctive differences were shown on the fathers' understanding of the knowledge of infants' developmental level depends on their dissimilar backgrounds- their age, education level, the number of children, job status and education experience for children care. However, fathers over 30 years old, who have two children and graduated from university showed higher accuracy compare to the others.
Second, mothers showed low yet higher accuracy on the knowledge of infant's developmental level than the fathers. Same as the fathers, there were no big differences among the mothers with different backgrounds. However, obviously, mothers over 30 years old, who have two children and graduated from university, showed higher accuracy on the knowledge of infant's developmental level than the others.
Third, the mothers had higher accuracy of the knowledge of infant's developmental level than the fathers. Both the fathers and the mothers scored the highest on emotional development part, and then in physical, language, cognitive, social order.
