Since the assessment is a part of teaching and learning, it affects students` academic achievement very much. However, there is a lack of acknowledgement of the importance of assessment among elementary school teachers. They frequently use assessment as a measure of learning outcome rather than as a tool for improving learning. They do not use the benefits of assessment in class. This study explored the various paradigms of evaluation. It also identified the dominant evaluation paradigm for the effective teaching and learning in these days. Since the differentiated instruction(DI) is rooted in assessment, the DI is the best fit to be substantial in fully accomplishing students` learning objects. The assessment in DI is an on going process to lead students` learning. Feedback is given or reflected immediately to the learning tasks and learning methods. Therefore, the assessment in DI can maximize the effect of `everybody participated and everybody achieved`.
