한국말의 힘과 생산성 = Capability and productivity of the Korean language

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글에서는, 사람이 말에서 힘을 얻어 재주와 슬기를 기르고 씀으로써 문화를 일구며 살아가기 때문에, 말이 달라지면 생각을 풀어내는 방식이 달라지며 말로써 재주와 슬기를 기르고 쓰는 것 또한 달라진다는 사실을 논의하였다. 한국말이 씨말에 다양한 토를 붙여 매우 다양한 마디말, 이름말, 풀이말을 만들어내고, 한국말로써 앎과 느낌뿐만 아니라 현상을 매우 촘촘하게 분석할 수 있으나, 유감스럽게도 학술말과 일상말 그리고 외국말의 어울림은 우리말이 중심이었어야 함에도 불구하고 현실은 그렇지 못하다. 이 점에서, 오늘날 우리나라의 인문학과 이에 기반을 둔 사회과학과 교육과학이 한국인과 한국사회에 실용적인 도움을 주지 못하는 근본적인 원인을 찾아야 한다. 한국 사람이 한국말을 잘 가꾸고 쓰면 재주와 슬기를 크게 기를 수 있는 반면, 그렇지 않으면 재주와 슬기를 기르기 어렵기 때문이다. 한국인들이 한국말로써 생각을 하면, 일상 생활에서는 물론이거니와 학문적으로 묻고 따지고 밝히는 일에서도 뛰어난 힘을 낼 수 있다. 특히 인문학 영역에서 큰 발전을 거두는 것이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. 따라서 이 글에서는 한국인의 말, 삶, 발달, 가르침과 배움, 학문과 사회 발전에 대한 새로운 패러다임을 모색해보고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to explore the capability and productivity of the Korean Language because human beings live with cultivating culture through fostering their ability and wisdom by the use of language. Language is the foundation of the lives and academic activities into which thoughts run and out of which they grow. People's thoughts and perspectives can be dictated by language. Every language forces human beings to perceive different worlds. In this viewpoint, the Korean Language is very different from the others including English. As Korean is an agglutinative language, its morphemes combine with its stem to represent detailed feelings and phenomena. Korean people have different ways in which phenomena are perceived and expressed that they think, act, and live. Korean is the key to create new development of our knowledge and culture. We Koreans, however, do not have paid proper attention to the capability and productivity of Korean. Especially current Korean scholars have ignored unique Korean language and culture. It has reduced the productivity of Korean people. In this paper, therefore, it was explored to build a new paradigm for explaining Korean life & development, their teaching & education, their study & research, their social advancement in terms of the Korean Language.
