미국 한인이민자 초기 이민 적응과정 연구 -LA 한인타운 지역민을 중심으로- = A Study on Early Adaptation Process related to Korean Immigrants in US -Residents in Koreatown, LA-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to discover early adaptation process related to Korean Immigrants in US. 13 participants who have lived in California were recruited by theoretical sampling. The data were collected through in depth interview. Collected data were analyzed through grounded theory approach of Strauss and Corbin(1998). The result of this study was that 110 concepts, 35 sud-categories and 12 categories were showed by open coding process. As a result of axial coding, Korean Immigrants have undergone the central phenomenon like ``fear`` and ``succeed in US`` was emerged as a core category. Also, as a result of selective coding, four kinds of types were emerged about early adaptation of Korean immigrants which are ``future-oriented``, ``reality-oriented``, ``conflict``, ``despair``. In conclusion, This study has academic achievements since it establishes a theoretical foundation through classifying early adaptation process of Korean Immigrants as well as it can provide basic information to develop support program.
