근대적 주체와 타자의 형성 과정에 대한 연구 = A Study on the Formation Process of Modern Subject and the Other

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study purposed to examine the otherness of ‘girl’ composed of modern others through sexualization and ageism. In the process that modern systems were settled, sexualization and ageism took their seats as major value systems for producing modern individuals. Young man, boy, child, girl, etc. are such examples. These signs and representations were newly formulated based on age and gender. Among them, ‘young man’ is a representative representation of modern subject, and ‘girl’ is positioned on the seat of others in both age and gender. In terms of sign alone, ‘girl’ is a paradoxical being of ‘gendered’ innocent ‘child.’ ‘Girl’ is restructured through viewing the gendered body with a desexualized eye, and forms sentimentality with her intrinsic emotion. The modern representation of ‘girl’ is expressed as a being characterized by the physical sign of coyness rather than her inside, but as the body is disregarded by the code of purity, neither the mind nor the body finds its position as the base of selfidentity.
